Churamura First Annual 5K Fun Run!

Join us on March 22nd 2025 under the symbol of Churamura and beacon of hope, the Zanpa Misaki lighthouse!

Come for the fun, dressed in your favorite costumes or sea turtle colors as you run to support sea turtle conservation! This event is family friendly and spectators are welcome! Kick off your day with registration check in at 8 o’clock and enjoy the beautiful scenery and paths of Cape Zanpa while you wait. The fun begins at 10 o’clock with our award ceremonies starting at 11am to congratulation our three fastest runners with a beautifully designed metal!

Not a runner? Just here for the fun? No matter how fast or slow you are, early registered participants will receive an exclusive 2025 t-shirt with this year’s design for our first ever 5k fun run! Sign up before February 10th for your own personal t-shirt to be included! We’ll also have additional merchandise available for sale with more t-shirt designs, stickers, sweat towels, jackets, turtle plushies, jewelry, and even license plates!

Proceeds from registration and all merchandise sales directly benefit Okinawa’s first community based sea turtle conservation and research organization! There’s plenty of parking and restrooms on site. There will also be stations set up for water (eco-friendly refillable water bottles highly encouraged!), merchandise, and educational information about the many sea turtles that visit Okinawa’s shores and call this island home especially as we approach the upcoming nesting season! Last year alone, the Churamura Nesting Team successfully tracked nearly 2,000 baby sea turtles from 24 nests on the Okinawan shores!
